A short guide to reading coupon terms and conditions
Deal Desk
Terms and conditions are where a coupon's real behaviour lives, and the same four clauses decide most outcomes.
The minimum spend is the first. A code that needs ₹1,999 will quietly refuse a ₹1,850 basket, and the discount is calculated on the qualifying subtotal rather than the total, so returns can drop you below the threshold again.
Excluded categories are the second. Fashion codes often skip sale sections and gift cards; electronics codes frequently exclude new launches. If the code refuses, look at what is in your basket before assuming it is broken.
The third is single use. Most codes work once per account, which means a returning customer sees no benefit even though the code is live for everyone else. The fourth is stacking: several retailers forbid combining a code with a sale price, so the cheaper of the two is applied and the code is discarded silently.
Reading these four clauses in order takes under a minute and answers almost every question about why a code did or did not work.
